Port Access Shirt

As much as I resisted the idea of “putting money” into my cancer treatment like it was an accessory or a trip to Disney—owning a port access shirt (“chemo shirt”) has been super helpful. No shrugging my shoulder out of a button-up shirt or feeling like I was half-dressed. There are many websites that sell them, and I got mine from Care + Wear. For sizing reference: I’m 5’7” roughly 190-lbs and ordered an XL. It fits loose, but not baggy!

Head Covers

Choosing whether to wear a head covering is obviously a personal decision. While I don’t wear one while talking to neighbors or in my own home, I do when I go out. People may give a second glance because it’s not a ‘normal’ hat, but I feel more comfortable that they aren’t seeing my bald head. The ones I have are from two different makers: Chemobeanies and Headcovers Unlimited. I’ve linked to the specific coverings I have, but their websites have a lot to offer.

Anti-Nausea

My oncology team gave me prescriptions for strong and effective anti-nausea medications. However, they also tend to give me a headache, so I save them for the heaviest nausea. On days I can, I switch to Bonine—specifically the generic version from Amazon to get more bang-for-buck.
